(because the V8s came with champion platinum : Champion RC11PYPB4: as standard. Same heat range (5) and gap (11 = 1.1mm), but you never need touch for 100k and are available at a very reasonable price depending on where you shop. (see previous post here).
The guy did say to check the thread & reach of the NGK plugs I got, he said the ones I've bought are the direct replacement for the iridium equivalent?
Now I'm concerned about putting them in

Just made a call myself and explained my situation & whilst she isn't allowed to tell me what the lesser equivalent is to the NGK platinum plug, she said I won't have any issues with the previously quoted part number.

    BKR5EIX-11 is the NGK Iridium

The NGK site has a wonderful tool to find the recommended plug, then a tool to cross reference standard plugs to iridium to platinum. Also one to refenece other makes to NGK

For a Disco 4.0V8 the following NGK references:
    Standard: BKR5E-11
Iridium: BKR5EIX-11 (seen at $3.50 per on E-Bay)
    Platinum: PFR5G-11 (at $16:00 per on E-bay)
    OEM:Champion RC11PYPB4

DiscoB...you should have no issues with the standard plugs you have

Another thing to note is that I've found in applications using ethanol and more so on E85 that the platinum plugs give a better, cleaner burn and with E85 certainly don't last their full distance.

Mind you we're talking at least double, and over triple the RPM your rover's doing and I can recommend E85 on an unpreped engine on a std ecu.
