replaed injector seals and washers now wont start

    hi guys
i am new here so please be gentle

    i have a 2001 disco 2 (td5)
now i just replaced all the injector seals and copper washers, reset the injector heights as per my landrover workshop book.
the problem i have now is it sounds tight when turning over, ive remove the injector cam shaft and it turns over no proplem but when i replace the cam shaft and reset the injectors it back to turning over tight and it refuses to start.
    parts replaced so far are
    fuel pump
    pressure reg
both replaced about 6 months ago

today i have replaced all the engine filters and oils as i was working on it (including fuel filter)

    any help would be greatfull

As previous post ensure properly bled, it takes a lot longer after an injector change than after a filter service.

    Have you checked the timing?

    cheers

Did you time it before you pulled the injector cam shaft out?

you dont need to, it runs off the valve cam, so the only way to fudge it up is to remove both.

it took me 5 cycles in the bleeding process to get my td5 to fire...
ignition on pump accelerator pedal 5 times, MIL lamp will light up and the FP will cycle for 5min or so. do this several times over.
but if this wasnt done and the injectors have been dry fired (not primed and had the engine turned over repeatedly) there is the possibility
that the injectors are now dead just ask XSiV how that works..

oh, and, it should still start but did the injectors go back in the same cylinders? they are coded to the ecu for each cylinder.

    cheers phil

i replaced each set of seals one injector at a time. i know each one has to go back in its correct place.

did you forget to reconnect the injector harness plug? seen that a dozen times now.

if you just folded the individual injector harness wires back there is a chance you have killed the injector harness and its not talking to the injectors. I wouldnt expect all 5 to die in one hit but stranger things have happened.

you may have also done something daft like given the inertia sensor a crack or shorted something and taken out the fuse to the ECU OR even the amps in the ecu itself, nanocom will identify all of the above. If you see all 5 injectors as open circuit then its likely the harness check it for continuity. if the harness is ok probe the injectors pin to pin then pins to earth...

hope you havent fried the injectors if youv done an amp on the ECU at least thats cheaper to change, I cant remember the fault code for a dead or dying amp but its something like "excess current output #x injector circuit."

all connections are ok, as for the shock sensor thats been checked.
checked the fuses (with my meter and not by eye) they ok ive even checked the relays..yep ok

i am not going to worry about it untill the weekend(as dark when i get home from work) something is amiss but i be bugged if i have any ideal at this time.
i know a guy who can get parts from a insurance breakers and he going to get me some sensors (free). well come on guys it better than buying sensors then finding out it not that. If it ecu then i have to get one. i dont think its injectors, but stranger things do happon to landrovers ( should know as i had a few).
Tomorrow i am buying a cheap 4x4 ok its a jeep 4 ltr but it comes at a steal price and its runs on gas (i work pt for the guy who owns it and he just brought a bmw x5 for his family).
keep the ideals coming lads as all ideals are welcome. now down to some reading of my d2 landrover workshop manual.

    thanks all
