    Disco 2 thoughts

I have been searching for a defender for quite some time, however when I discovered the ridiculously small back seats I had to move on. I am looking at the Disco 2 and would love some feedback on this particular model with the TD5. Any particular problems I should look for? Are they reliable etc? Would appreciate your thoughts. Cheers, John

I will speak for mine only.

    It's an 2002 Td5 auto, coils, ace, 5 seat. I paid $16500 with 90000kms.

It has been towed once (when I filled it with a nice diesel/water mix).

I get it serviced every 20000kms with oil and filter every 10000.

    Money spent:
$2000 - Fitting CDL internals and linkage
    $1400 - ABS modulator
    $90 - ABS sensor
    $400 - Fuel pressure regulator
    $200 - Injector harness
    $440 - ECU remap
$ Can't remember but not much - brake rotors
    $400 - Viscous fan hub
    $130 - electric window actuator.

I believe this is the best car I have ever owned. (although there was an XB Falcon that is pretty close).

I've found it very reliable and extremely capable. It tows our camper with ease and we travel in high levels of comfort. It fits an infant's seat, H-harness car seat, and booster seat.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi John

If you can afford it, go for something like this one:

    2003 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY S TD5 MY2003 Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au

Its MY2003, so you get the Centre Diff Lock plus a few other nicities.
This one has SLS and the rarer ACE option which is brilliant. You can tell it has ACE by looking at the engine bay photo - it has 2 filler caps on the power steering reservior.

    Have fun test driving!
    Cheers
