    looking at 8v

    Hi all,

    This is my first post on this forum and i have been looking at a disco ii 2002 auto v8.It has 170,000k's on the clock and was installed with a LPG in 06-07 i think.So with the 8v on LPG what should i look for ? How many K's will i get out of the engine be for it dies ?? How do the auto's go off road and on down hills ?? and is $10,000 to much for it.

    As long as it's well maintained and has a good service history that engine has a lot of life left in it. Mine has over 220000k's and is still going strong.
    $10k is cheap for an '02 with that amount of k's.

    The auto box does a fine job off road.

    Went and had a look at the disco today it was very nice . It is 2000 mod not a 2002 it reg in 2001. so now i am going to get the RACV to have a look at it and if all ok i will have a new car next week

    Just make sure that the CDL is fitted.

    Great! That's low k's for a 2000 model and still cheap. Let us know how it goes.

    Ignore whether the centre difflock has been installed. It will make no difference as to the overall condition of the car and can be installed at any time in the future if you decide to do any serious off roading.

    so were is the CDL located ? is it in the diff or in the gearbox and how do i know it has been installed

    Don't worry about it. Cdl stands for centre diff lock. It was excluded from early d2's from the factory but can be retro fitted as an extra.
    Not important at this stage, what is important is finding the right car!
