    Suspension Upgrade

    G'day all,
I have already lifted my Disco 2 40mm with OME shocks and suspension. After several years of 4WDing I have decided, after bottoming out on the bullbar too many times, that I need a little bit more of a lift. What would be the best way to do this? Should I upgrade to a 50mm lift, or more, or just insert some spring spacers?
    Much appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Pete

Could you explain what you mean when you say the bull bar bottoms out please.

I have the same suspension in mine
    Also running 265/75 tyres(29" to 32").
I have not found the bull bar hits, and if it is close the depature angle is an issue
I am yet to touch the bump stops with this set up but this weekend will be the test
    Cheers, Kyle

    Approach angle

    Thanks for the reply.
Apologies, I was meaning the approach angle. Several times when coming out of ruts/pits the bullbar gets lodged in the ground, not by much, but enough to stop the vehicle. That normally ends up in shovelling and winching, which is half the fun, but would be great if the approach angle was better. I have an ARB bullbar by the way.
    Cheers!

I have an ARB bar too and do notice it will pick up a little bit of mud in a steep gully but it doesn't hit hard.

I was talking to another D2 owner with the same set up as we do.
He is nick-named "dozer" on their outings
The cross plate under the winch is bent to prove it.

Wonder if the other bread of bars do this too?
    Cheers, Kyle

I would not worry too much.

I have a 65mm lift and an ARB steel bar and regularly hit the bar (usually bring home a bucket of clay lodged in the front).

However if you want extra height I would do it with springs and not spacers. Just my preference.

I find the approach angle is reasonable.

Exactly the reason why my second D2 got a TJM bar and not another ARB. The ARB protrudes too far forward and that's what causes the ploughing. I hardly do any ploughing with the TJM bar.

    Cheers,

4" lift and 35's will fix a lot of that problem too.
