    Disco 2 Petrol Gauge Issue.

    Hi Guys,

I’m a complete newbie to this forum and would appreciate your knowledge and advice on my recent purchase of a Disco 2 (2000) V8 which I’m having issues with the petrol gauge.

I fill up the tank with petrol and the gauge says its ¾ full when I know it’s full. When the ‘red light’ (running out of fuel) comes on the petrol gauge, how much fuel do I actually have as it’s obviously not correct in its indication.

Can this be fixed or solved as it’s frustrating? Is it a Disco 2 problem? Any rough guides to kilometres per tank I should be getting?

    Thanks in advance

I broke down on the side of a busy highway on my way to a servo a couple of weeks ago. It ran out of fuel at 1/8 of a tank with no orange light in sight!

Thanks for the link too elektro, I'm going to give this a go because I swear I'll never call the NRMA again for more fuel at the side of the road....

This is what it looks like when you want to replace it the DODGY way.

    CUT THE RUG D2

It's easy!!! Hardest part will be ripping out the carpet.

    Ian,

    Love your work.

I too have the same problem, as my gauge was working ok, but has been getting worst, and resulted in embarsing moments looking for a jerry can! It now seems to be empty at a 1/4. I too have LPG in the back, and have been cursing this. Those Pics give me some encouragement!
    Thanks

    Hi all,
I have just been reading this thread and was excited by the detailed replies provided, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced slow or delayed response with their fuel gauge? My gauge recently will take a good few minutes to read full after filling up (it shows 3/4), will always show a different reading after turning off and restarting and generally rises after driving for say 10mins or more. The other day I drove for about 25kms on the amber light and it only took approx 75lt to fill, my disco is 99 V8 auto 7 seater. I've been meaning to search this and came across the topic tonight.
    Cheers Matt
