    Traction control not working

    HI All

In The rain we are having at the moment. yesterday I spun my wheels on the Tarmac and also had some off camber sidways action going down hill. I can attribute a bit of this to the fact that at the time I had one new shock and on old shock in the back. But I still would have thought that the TC would kick in. also the TC light didn't come on after either instance.

    ABS is working for Braking.

Any tips for testing the TC and if it isnt working how do I fix it?

    I have a 99 TD5 Auto 7 seater, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

    Matt

also the Hill decent din't seem to work, I tried it out on an entry to the beach and I had to take over on the brake. I was in Low 4 so I think it should have engaged.

I have also dicovered that the ABS and TC light don't come on on start up so I thick they may have been removed.

In looking up the where the TC light is in the owners manual I noticed that the TC disengages when the Centre Diff is locked. I thought that was one of the reasons the disco was so good off road with the effective TC Is this correct?

    cheers

Put one wheel on something slippery, and the other on bitumen. Fang it. You will hear the TC kick in and the yellow light on the dash should come on.

If you have some private land to play with, just try and do some doughnuts in the dirt/sand.

Hopefully one of our helpful experts on here will have some suggestions, all I can say is that a lot of what you have said does not seem to add up, including what you say you saw in the owners manual for a '99 ( unless I misunderstood you). Has TC ever worked. Are you sure ABS is working. Never heard of TC disengaging when cdl is locked.

This where you should start your investigation - hopefully it is just the bulbs removed or deactivated due to unsolved amigos...

This is legitimate I believe. If you want ETC and CDL then engage CDL with engine running.

    Cheers,

The '99 didn't have official factory cdl, so reference in the owners manual?
Did have the internals but I can't see a '99 manual referring to that but I have never seen a LR manual for a '99 so who knows. There was a proceedure to disable TC , from memory cdl was locked first then start engine. This apparently worked for retrofitted cdls, doesn't work for D2a factory cdls.

Go to the Good Oil. You will find the full description of how and when the TC will and wont work on the D2 as well as the plethora of information avialble to help sort your issue.

Turn the ignition off with the CDL engaged.

One thing about the TC, it only activates when it senses one or more wheels spinning at different speeds.

Also the TC light doesn't always come on when the TC activates, you should hear the modulator working though, it makes a growling noise when it activates.

Oh for your information, you can buy a Rave CD for your model D2 from the forum shop.

    Baz.
