I was tired of turning the car on and off to keep the TC active with the cdl engaged so after some researching I got the guts up and went under the glove box, found the right little black box and snipped the correct colored wire.. And after regaining my breath all was good, TC always on with cdl engaged, be it car on or off.
I think the info might be in the "Good Oil", was a long time ago, I'll try to find it.

I'd say Matt that the 3 amigo's are defiantly present.Globes blown maybe. Some times the abs wont work but TC and Decent will, or any other order, It always ends up with nothing working.
Can you get your Computer read?.
If you are up this way I have a little black box that will read the faults and reset it for you.

Had to do a bit of googleing.
This is to keep the tc always active with the cdl.
    Hope it helps

    1) Disconnect the battery. Unscrew the four hex screws in the glove box hinges. Reach round the side of the glove box with each hand and pull the closing mechanism upwards. Slide the glove box out

    2) Pull out the 3 push-studs on the black cardboard panel underneath the glovebox, and undo the screw stud at the back. Remove the panel.

    3) Near the outer side of the gap behind the glove box, you will see 2 or 3 ECUs, depending on whether you have ACE, I think. The SLABS ECU is the centre of the three, or the outside of the two. It has 5 black connector blocks underneath. Remove the centre block of the five from underneath the ECU.

    4) Look for the black & blue wire running to pin 9 of the connector block, which is the central pin on the lower row, i.e. the row furthest from the retaining clips. At this point, make sure you have the right connector, and the right pin!

    5) Cut this black & blue wire & tape off the ends. (Give enough space to solder it back together if you find out you have cut the wrong one...) Reconnect the connector. Replace the panel and the glovebox. Reconnect the battery.

    Please note :

This is not needed for 2003 on (facelift) models as the ECU has been reprogrammed to take care of NOT disabling traction control/ABS when CDL in engaged, when ignition is switched on.

To test: engage the CDL and start the car up. The CDL light should be lit, but the ABS/TC lights should not be lit up. This is correct - it means that the SLABS ECU is not disabling ABS/TC when you start the car up with the diff lock engaged

I had a stack of problems with the hand brake light on turned out it was a dirty rear ABS sensor.

I think that is one of the amigos.

I will look into the dash lights on the weekend. but all of the ABS faults cleared and didn't come back after I had fixed the ABS sensor.

I have rebuilt or replaced the whole braking system apart from the ABS module. has anyone had the any luck with one of these?

I'll get the computer checked tomorrow.

    Cheers

    Thanks Baffle

I'll look for that wire on the weekend when I get into the dash to fix the dash Lights.

I think that warning lights are led, which are difficult to get burned, when you turn the key,you get abs light but no tc light?
If someone has removed the lights to get rid of the amigos, the abs light would still remain on after the engine starts, unless if its removed too..
Sometime when i deactivated the sls system(only) with a nanocom, for some strange reason tc and hdc lights didn't turn on when i turned the key although i felt that the traction control was doing its job, maybe someone has fiddled with the bcu settings, maybe someone with a nanocom is near you to check it out..

I wouldn't bother with this unless you have tested yours and proved the switches to be faulty. Using a multimeter you should get a reading of 1k ohms, 2k ohms and 3k ohms, depending on the switches being: both on, either one one, both off.

If you suspect a fault with your switches then "Option B" is your solution to the intermitent 3 amigos.

Mate, you can actually do this without removing the glovebox to save some time....

Look up Ashcroft engineering via google and there is a picture manual to run you through the procedure..... Also a full on explanation of how/what why/ when it all works etc... and the pros and cons of cutting the wire....

OR look up Urban Panzer and he has got a very very good website and he also has a very very good how what why when.... think his website is www.discovery2.co.uk
