Hi Ihave just finished repairing my leaking fuel pressure regulator as per Blknight's tutorial (TD5, Fuel Pressure Regulator- Remove and Install) Thanks Dave!
Heres what I found
If you look at the picture of the gasket It has something, possibly Loctite or some form of cement smeared over parts of the gasket, Signs of uneven pressure a damaged hole for one of the galleries and a large lump of the same cement, locktite, Its a wonder all the fuel didn't leak out and empty the tank!
Sadly I think this has never been touched since it came out of the factory Looks like it was built this way The 3 bolts that hold the unit on were smeared with some form of locktite and I think some of this run down between the reg, gasket and head during assembly.
If you are going to do this fix it takes a lot longer on a Disco than a Defender (Most of the afternoon), you will need tiny hands and double jointed wrists and a lot of effort to not thow things at the vehicle or hit things with a large hammer!
I found that cutting the end out of a cheap 14mm ring spanner enough so that it cleared the fuel line pipes but still fitted the nuts that hold them in was well worth it
