    Stereo Upgrade

    Hi all,

I'm wanting to upgrade my headunit and speakers im my D2. Does anyone know the sizing for the front and rear door speakers?
Also is it a simple job to change the headunit in the D2?

    Cheers

Very easy to change head unit...

As for speakers, sorry cant help.. Head unit improved sound sufficiently on mine for me to leave it as is...

(And yes, I'm and Audiophile, been there, done all that many times)

Its just not worth going better as the humm from the tyres etc negates it all

I believe they are 6" rounds in the doors but can't be %100 sure.

Did you change the head unit on a eurovox system or the premo Harman/Kardon system?
I've got the premo system & am having issues because the built in amp in the head unit needs to be bypassed & maintain the use of the existing amp in the truck so I don't lose any of the speakers. Ive got an Eanon 7" high def DVD unit to put in & have plugged the ISO leads into my disco but because it's not possible to run both amps ( one existing, one built in to the unit) I'm having issues & I'm pretty sure a plug in wiring harness won't exist to suit my head unit, none I could find anyways. When plugged in, everything lights up, it accepts & plays discs but not a sound from the speakers.
    Help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

    Hi Justin

I have changed the head unit and speakers in my D2, the head unit is easy to pull out jujst the same as most other factory units. 6.5 inch round speakers will fit in the front and rear doors and allow you to put the factory covers over them. If you want to put splits in them there is heaps of room for the tweaters to mount because there is all the space for the Harmon Kardon system that was an option. This is what i have done with mine

You can, with some careful pruning, also go double din size, which gives a lot more flexibility. I have an Eclipse AVN6000 sat nav/stereo/reversing camera/DVD player in mine with an I-Phone interface.

Similar to what I want to install but wiring is an issue

Be careful!....it is not just the diameter that is important, it is also the cone angle. WHen you want to buy speakers, I suggest you remove the door skin, and take it into the shop, and have them place a speaker in it for you....or, you can buy whatever you want, and understand that you may have to spend some time with a dremel/file, making it fit.

In my case, I bought some beautiful Hertz speakers, and I had to grind.

I would like to see some pics of double dins in the D2. It doesn't look like it would fit. Is there any cutting involved?
