In a fit of rage after being robbed by my insurer when my son wrote off my owned since new LJ Torana, I contacted my solicitor about taking action. He said not worth it unless you expect to get at least $50,000 out of them. Expect to pay your own costs in this sort of action said he. This was 2004.

A mate went the Shell Coy over a servo lease. After 4 days in court his SC (Yes,an SC) advised him he had a good case and would likely win, but could he afford to? SC estimated another 5 days in court and unlikely that he would win costs against Shell, who, said the SC, would try to draw it out further and probably appeal. Could he afford costs of about $6,000 per day (1998 ) when he wanted around $90,000 from Shell? Best let us negotiate a settlement now said the silk.

For what it's worth, he decided against it on advise from a solicitor
Yep, definitely GMH's fault that one .

Unfortunately it happens with every axle with a panhard rod. Even our beloved LRs.
That's when you fit an adjustable panhard rod.

When lots of people are affected they can share the costs through a class action. But to go on your own? You will soon find that justice is not cheap, only for the people who can afford it, the rest of us have to just suck it up.

It seems to me that the engines are not fit for their intended purpose.
What about poor design & poor manufacture of the TD5 oil pump bolt?
What about poor design & poor manufacture of the TD5 injector harness?
What about poor design & poor manufacture when it comes to D2 water leaks into the interior from several places?
What about poor design & poor manufacture of D2 fuel lines?

LR could probably have class actions coming out of their ears but the reality is that it is too costly, stressfull and time consuming with no certainty of a positive outcome.

Not a risk too many lawyers or individuals would take on.

Similar story with Kia and their first generation Carnival engines blowing up prematurely.

Yes, you'd almost think Land Rover had a hand in their engines.

Something to probably think about is that most of these faults have happened after warranty period and there for i don.t think Land Rover can be held to pay for it any ways
