I can assure you - a beer can fits in the drivers side holder equally as well.

well it just HAS to be the cupholder thats wrong,, cause a XXXX stubbie is the perfect size.
But I did say BEER - and not that swill in a yellow can that nobody's ever figured out a real name for. I've always thought the four "X"s were the swear filter kicking in to moderate what people really call that stuff.

    That aside....

My question is, what mugs/water bottles can be bought that actually fit the original pop out dash mounted cup holders?

ie, they are a diameter that only suits a soft drink can. (or beer can if you're the passenger )

Any suggestions 'cos I'd really like to buy a coffee mug and a water bottle that fits the factory cup holder....any suggestions welcome.
I found the cup factory holder in the dash was useless so I made my own to fit on the console next to the gear lever. It was sized to fit a 600ml water bottle (Mt Franklin etc) and is made from two layers of 90mm PVC pipe slit down the side to reduce to the right diameter. It has an internal base to support the bottle and is fixed by a screw that goes into and grips to the carpet and backing on the side of the transmission tunnel. May not be a sexy as the LR optional jobs but it does the job for me. I don't have another one on the driver's side as the UHF radio sits there.

Sorry, the above is not really an answer to your question, but it does show another solution.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Doing that to the drivers side would be more risky anyway as there are a lot of wires which run along the top/side of the tunnel.

Had similiar holders as these ones in the D3 and they were great,
