I'm thinking not.... The fan on my V8 doesn't freewheel at all when cold and happily spins all the time????

Mine (02 V8) has pretty much no resistance when cold...I will check my D1 that had a new fan about 2 years ago and see what it does...my bet is that it will be solid when cold.

    Cheers

They SHOULD be and do the same thing.IE both work EXACTLY in the same way.
The parts may not be interchangeable TD5 to V8 (says TD5 on my reciept)
My new one is very tight compared to the old one.

    Hi Jackerz.
The provent is a filter that filters out the oil mist from blowby gasses and returns the oil to the sump.Oil mist is detrimental to engine life,it carbonises in the heat of the turbo and becomes abrasive. The oil mist also clogs the intercooler.Run your engine with the oil filler cap off, that mist/smoke you see is what the provent filters.
If you want a ProVent, try LovemyRangie(Andrew) he MAY have one left over from the recent bulk buy.
I got the new viscous hub and fan, plus the tool to undo the hub from Karcraft in SA,they overnite gear to your door, very helpfull people,Tony is the man to contact.

Starting to go back together now.
    Oil cooler,centrifuge and waterpump done.
I re-wired the oil pressure switch from the switch to the ECU,it was broken in behind the fuel cooler, too hard to get to.
Old waterpump was as good as new,no signs of corrossion. The OAT leaves a dark seal over all alloy parts.
    More tommorow.
