    ARB Deluxe Winch Bar Question

    Hey All,

Have been thinking of getting Smokey an ARB Deluixe Winch Bar. Now over here...I think they are around the $1800-$1900 mark. Have just priced one in the US (-- EE -- Expedition Exchange Incorporated) for $1155 and around $200 in shipping. As we are pretty much dollar for dollar at the moment......works out around $1360 delivered.

My questions are a) does that sound right and b) dummo question...but the bar would suit my D2a regardless of whether an Aust built one or US built one?

thanks in advance......hoping I get the right answers to can convince SWMBO.......I do wear the pants but just want to do the right thing ,

    Regards

    Stevo

Ok...found out what the go is and maybe useful for anyone else. Have read a bit and some people say you may not even get charged...but if you do it is calculated as follows:

Cost of Goods (COG): lets say $1160 in Aud$.....duty of 5%....which is $58. Then the COG + duty+ Shipping ($170) x 10% GST=$1526.80. So even with duty and GST added...still cheaper than buying local,

P.S. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.......I'm assuming I have worked it out properly having spoken to Customs.

Pretty good price Stevo, that bar is built here shipped to the US and will be shipped back here if you buy it for cheaper...it should fit your D2a no dramas.

Hey young H....how are ya matey....been a while. Good point...about it being made here and shipped to US.....duh.....so should be fine for Smokey. Just gotta work on my sales pitch to the missus. I've got the cash.......though double it as she will want something......and I can live with that

Might I suggest you contact an ARB outlet, or the head office, tell them your sums, and see if they will price match?

Chase around for a better price....

I was offered a TJM steel 15 or the ARB delux at the same price $1400....
Went for the TJM in the end and well chuffed..

Good points hamish and James.....hadn't thought of that. Now that I have broached the subject with the other half and that it went down better than I thought. Though had to overcome "but I thought bullbars were around $500"......and reminded her if out bush and we are touring the importance of whacking skip to the never lands as opposed to wrecking Smokey etc....we might be somewhere. Will do a call around and see what the response is,

    Regards
