    Set up cost - accessories

Hi just wondering would like to post the rough cost of setting up their Disco. Individual items and a total would be great.

It would be very helpful for those looking to buy, how much they can realistically budget for.

    Eg:

    Bull bar
    LED Spotlights
    Suspension lift
    Front driveshaft changeover
    Tyres
    Roof racks

    Assuming all new:

Bullbar - ARB & TJM winch bars retail for around $1600 fitted
    LED Spots - never looked
Suspension lift (assuming 2") - a couple of threads about it and some have used this this mob - https://www.suspensionstuff.com.au/s...18a12ea80fc1c9
Front driveshaft change over - haven't done it
Tyres - depends on what you want but $250-$300ea would cover it unless you have very expesnive tastes or are more rmote than I am!
Roofracks - never looked but just under $2,000 will get you an ARB Alloy if memory serves me early on a Sunday evening.

Like all things - how deep are your pockets and how long are your arms?
    Cheers, Dale

Should be able to work out some figures from here - Les Richmond Automotive

I like this rack, and it's a good price - Powerful 4x4 4WD Accessories - I've seen them list it on ebay before for the D2.

You should also factor in some underbody protection.

Shocks and coils I would get new, maybe Billies or koni with lovell or King springs. Total around $1300.
Roofracks, look on ebay or market section here, they can be had quite cheaply depending on what you are after, I have a set I honestly only use once/twice per year. Work out your $$$.

LED headlights are relatively new so prices are high but a set of light Force 170's fitted cost $400-550.

Well and tyres are depending on what you are after, an ATR is a great option if most time spend on road and be honest with yourself.
Most 4WD's spend hardly anytime off road, maybe just a few hundred K's a year. Off road tyres will be a compromise on the road and braking can be greatly reduced especially in the wet etc.

A good mate bought a car for $4k, it had all the extras he wanted, even a snokel and when he stripped the gear he wanted, he wrecked the car for parts and got $3800 back plus $50 from a wrecker for scrap metal.
Total cost was $150 for a heap of stuff including lift kit and what seemed like new shocks and brand new brake rotors which he also swapped.
They are out there, just keep on looking.

    Good luck.
Alternatively you can go to a shop and hand them your visa, walk out and come back 2 days later, $10k poorer and have all new gear.

Ha yeah things getting stolen would be a bit of a worry. Hmm maybe electrifying not such a bad idea...

Thanks for the replies and 'don't forgets' they are helpful. Keep them coming if you wish - I am studiously taking notes.

    V8 or Td5?

If Td5 don't forget a larger intercooler and an ECU map upgrade either.
