Replace Bench seat with standard front seats

I am toying with the idea of taking out the rear bench seat and replacing it with two standard front seats or bucket seats and then building in a small console/fridge etc to assist in keeping my kids happy on long trips.

The centre console would have a small engel fridge, extra power sockets for charging game consoles etc.

    Has anyone done this before?

I don't see this being easy. If you look at the rear seats there is big chunks missing to clear the wheel arches and the ability to fold forward would be lost too.

Just tell the kids to harden up, my kids love it and they even have the armrest to keep them apart. The Defender rear seat was ok when they were little, but they got bigger and would find it uncomfortable.

    Jokes aside.

Been done lots in the Show car stuff was all the rage in the WRX. get some front seats and take them to an engineer. anything is possible if your pockets are deep and your arms are long.

Buy the kids one of those Waeco fridges designed to go on the seat and are held in by a seat built.

Your option is just too hard and expensive - engineering would be expensive

    Not that I know of.

No matter what State or Territory you are in it would require approved engineering diagrams I would have thought.

Securing a small fridge to the existing centre seat and finding another way to provide the power sockets would no doubt be cheaper but may not be your preferred option.
