Have you checked the engine mounts, when they die the engine rumbles at idle through the whole car.

BIG O, i havent purchased the car yet and with the way the floods are going it wont be this week either. It vibrates at idle when stationary so the first thing i thought was it needed new eng mounts. I was not convinced that mounts would be the cause of the vibrations felt when driving tough.
I have been looking around for others to purchase but there isnt alot for sale at the moment. Having said that im still interested in the one with the problems.

    Thanx. Michael.

my 01 td5 has this too, initially it was a rattle and worked out it was the handbrake as could pull on and noise go away

fixed this but there is still a vibration at same rpm that doesnt change with handbrake on or off.

next thing i will be looking into as recommended here are harmonic balancer, belt tensioners pulleys, and possibly TC rear output bearing or engine mounts.

just today got first three amigos, but have had progressively worse squeeking brakes which ive read can lead to this, so will be trying some new brand of pads and getting the discs machined (need doing).

Put a jack under the sump and jack it up abit whilst the car is at idle, if the viabration goes your engine mounts have gone..

Be worth looking at the donut (rubber coupler) on the rear propshaft at the diff. These also tend to make a noise/vibration usually at a specific RPM when worn.

    Cheers

yes its near the top of my todo list to remove the rear propshaft and handbrake drum again and go for a drive with the CDL on.

I got rid of my low rpm vibrations easy. The cooler lines from the manual g/box were rubbling together. Lossen the clamps and a bit of reshaping and its all good.
