    3 amigos - Melbourne

    Dear members

I have had the 3 amigos for a year or so on my 2003 V8 HSE D2. Had the shuttle valve kit done but that did not fix it. Have read the forums here and the 'good oil'. All great information but I think beyond my ability to fix myself.

i have been using main dealers for service. Can anyone recommend an independent in melbourne who could reliably fix up this problem without a new unit.

have had enough of lack of ABS....

    many thanks

Think this is the fix you might be looking for - or at least it seems almost everyone who has done it, it has worked for them.

ABS Mod - Land Rover Club V.I.

You need to look at Option B (step 37). The page itself looks VERY complicated, but from step 37 it looks quite easy. No major knowledge of mechanicing(?) needed. You don't need to read anything of Option A, unless you want to!

My amigos have been holidaying with me on and off for the last 2 yrs or so. I was going to do this myself over Xmas, but then the engine blew so I'm getting my mech to do it while its in with him.
Very cheap option, just a few dollars for some wire, a plug connector, and an earthing terminal.

I know its returned some very good feedback and results.

    Good luck!

The 3 Amigos can be more than the shuttle valve and it's debatable whether the shuttle valve is the primary cause of the warnings coming up.

Have you checked you ABS and speed sensor connections on the wheels? These can come loose, or inactive due to dirt and grime. Do you have low pads or worn discs?

These are all relatively low cost and sensible things to check before resorting to option B.

Agreed. I have checked my sensors and they seem good, and have replaced discs and pads, so I know its not them.
I know I'll be trying Option B due to its cost before I start looking at the shuttle valve fix. Its got to be worth a shot. If that doesn't fix the prob, then it'll have to be the shuttle valve.

But like I say, it surely has to be worth a try first?

    Cheers,

thanks for the info. I dont really want to be doing this myself though and the main dealer shave a set response. Is there an independent in Melbourne that relaibly fixes this sort of thing (porbably using the option .

Like I said previously, don't just assume that it's the shuttle valve or that you need to do the option b conversion. Make sure you check all of your ABS sensors, speed sensors, pads and discs first. You might also want to check whether you have a faulty ABS modulator.

All of these things above are important to check before resorting to option b.

Its probably not something a licenced person would do,,,

However, it can be done by nearly anyone.
Print out just those pages, open the bonnet and have a squizz.

And for those that THINK they have a sensor problem---

jack one wheel just off the ground,
start car, select drive/first (no, it WONT drive off, its a 4wd remember,,)
If the speedo registers, that sensor works.
    easy.
    repeat X3.
