    Looking for Disco 2 help

    Hi All,

I have just bought my first disco. I poicked up a 2004 series 2 in VIC and drove it back to SA where I live. My Dad has owned a couple of 2 door Rangies, one 4 door as well as 2 disco's so i am hooked you might say.

I need some help with a few things
    1. I need new rear shocks for some decent off road work any suggestions?
    2. Looking for a set of rims for off road tyres, anyone have a set going?
    3. after a long range tank, what have people found good value for money?

Thanks for the welcome and look forward to chatting more often.

Hi and welcome, Shane at Suspension Stuff is very good, plenty of choices from all the major suppliers. Many here love thr Bilsteins but exy. Many here with a Suspension stuff kit Dobinson Coils and Lovells Shock (me) Very happy with them. All sorts of combinations for others. Budget will be your main consideration.

Long Range Automotive offer a 130 tank for around $1040

    cheers

    Hey mate.
The S2a is possibly best of pick.

Congrats, for bits look on ebay, market section here and since you are in SA, take a drive to lonsdale and look at Triumph Rover Spares. Not cheap but they have heaps of bits.

I love Koni shocks and Lovell springs, personnel choice I guess.

G'day & welcome, at least u know you've started in the right place for info gathering
All u need is on here between searching already discussed items/issues ( watch out for Pedro)
Or asking a new question allowing everyone their input, informed plus a little guess work (me)
    Take care & enjoy

    Welcome

    In regards to your questions:
    1) What coils you running? How much lift? And what are you looking to achieve?
    2) Yes I have a set, I go to Adelaide often... (Im in Whyalla)
    3) Diesel or Petrol..????? If diesel I'd recommend Jerry Cans!!! If Petrol tanks under vehicle are better.. You get a long way on 90L in the TD5 and a LR tank is ridiculous for the extra fuel capacity gained (and bloody heavy too)

If you're after standard shocks, you can't go past Bilsteins from the states. I recently bought a set of 4 for around $500au delivered.
As for extra diesel, I'm with Tombie ... go for the jerry cans.

We have 2 D2s. One on Bilsteins, one on Terrafirma shocks. If you have the money go for the Bilsteins. USA- Aussie dollar means get em from a US supplier like Truck Springs.

I fitted Long Ranger tanks for my petrol D2, and have been very very happy with them. The extra weight actually has very little effect on the vehicle, although I did also have Poly Air bags fitted at the rear for heavy towing. The extra range is a great comfort and a cost saver too, as you can pick and choose where and when you buy fuel, rather than having to buy expensive fuel because you need it. If yours is a V8, you WILL need long range tanks!!!!!!!

I have the LR tanks in mine (main + corner) which gives about 145 litres. These tanks were fitted to the vehicle when I got it but I did crave a bigger tank on the previous D2. Yes, the economyof a Td5 is good, but when towing it really is nice having the range I have now without the jerries (although I still carry one on the camper to use for fire starting when wet)
