Other than the clip and clevis pin there's not much else.
Not sure where you would find a picture. There is not one on the RAVE CD that I could find.
It was working now it ain't, had to take the centre console out to do bias plate adjustment. Putting it back in & the handbrake lever won't grap, it will lift but won't grab. Is there another way I should have put it back together, already done so several times but can't exactly remember what it looks like when working properly..

When I did mine I found that there was a claw mechanism attached to the handbrake lever itself that locks onto a toothed base fixed to the base of the console. Pressing the handbrake button pushes a rod that attaches to the lever-like claw mechanism. Mine had flipped over backwards, reversing over the lever fulcrum. To re-engage it I simply pushed the claw mechanism forward until it engaged the toothed base, although I have found it doesnt work as well as it used to.
Whats with these handbrakes?
I have just installed an Ashcroft CDL and when everything was put back the handbrake detent is sticking (binding) inside the handle. Last night I couldn't see what was causing this...
Am waiting for the weekend to tackle this in the daylight. What is involved in removing the lever from the vehicle? You can't remove the hinge pin as it is a swaged rivet. I could see one bolt head at the rear, probably another hidden at the front.

DONT WORRY.... This appears to be a common thing. I have had the same issue every (4) times I have had to remove the centre consol. As stated there is the lever thingy which can flip over also the button can get stuck and bent out of line, also the cheeks of the lever can some how change shape and catch on the ratchet arm.... Best thing is to try and avoid getting the handbrake going into the vertical position and fight the consol into position at the dash end..
Just take your time and if I remember you cant just disconnect the lever...
Reshape the cheeks, button lever connection with a large flat blade screwdriver..

Had the same problem. In my case the lever was slightly bent towards the driver. Bent it back by a half cm and worked fine again. Seems to me that if all the mechanism is not in a perfect straight line, you get this kind of problems. J
Had this problem with the sons D2. The ratchet cam flipped over and then the problem compounded with sticky mechanism. The excessive application of force and limited application of patience was the cause of the sticky mech.
cheers
Yes, I did extend the lever to verticle and the cam flipped over, but I spotted that before reassembly of the console. The "excessive application of force" was more applicable to the installation of the new CDL actuator and trying to rivet the steel plate back into position. Had to call for help from my dad, a long suffering S11a owner, now sold. At least the handbrake lever was reliable in those, just not effective due to oil in the drum
.
Will look at it again on the weekend. I trust Lyonbyrd will get theirs sorted as well.
Ron
cheers for the advice guys... might try bending the rod between the ratchet & button although I didn't bend it in the first place, simply lifted the lever up high to get the centre console back in. Got her booked in for a service with a land rover mechanic, sad to say I've had enough stuffing around with this car & can see lots of $$ down the track... sticking with my ford transit van & selling the D2 rip..
Ive had issues with mine in the past.
Was an EASY fix,the rubber grip binds on the release button.
Wriggle it around and seat the rubber correctly and see if its your problem too
