    Need Parts? I do.

    All

I need to purchase some parts for the D2 and at this stage plan to purchase them from the UK (Britcar-UK). (Check their site Britcar (UK) Ltd)

    These are the parts I'm chasing;

    1. BTR9333PUY - Windscreen demist
    2. AWR1194PUY - Air Vent
    3. BTR7174 - Air Vent seal x 2
    4. ESR1480 - Expansion Tank Cap
    5. JAK00010PMA - Plenum
    6. FAP100850PUY - Dash

Roughly about $550 all brand new genuine parts.

So.......Two things. Firstly, if there is any vendor in Australia that can match this you have a sale (plus postage). It will be refreshing if there was someone in Australia however I'm more inclined to believe I'm asking too much here. Second if there any other people in Brisbane wanting to purchase some parts (brand new, after market or genuine) and would like to split postage from the UK let me know. I plan on making the purchase by the 4/3 so let me know prior to then.

By the way the expansion cap/radiator cap is $20 from UK however $48 in Australia.....do you need a new one?

    Regards
    Andrew

P.S. (I live on the south side of brisbane within a 5km radius of the city).
P.P.S I have purchased from these guys before and they are very good.

I take it you have searched eBay?? as well as the many dealers in Oz of new and 2nd hand spares???

Apart from some "exotic" items found O/S, I have sourced a plethora or parts from our own back yard that have been well priced and ready available..........................

Agree, it's unusual list. Not a crash repair though. Just parts that I have left go and I have finally decided to replace.

The plenum was cracked by the guy who replaced the front screen about 2 years ago and when I picked the car up he said that's how it was when they received the car. It wasn't, but couldn't be bothered ripping his head off. The dash? I'll check the part number again but this should just be the moulding over the tacho, speedo etc (pretty sure it is). The air vent is missing the front little button nothing major just superficial. The radiator cap is starting to lose the bottom rubber seal so time to replace - routine /preventive maintenance. The windscreen de-mist somehow has broken so I'm also replacing this. I could probably find a couple more things before sending the order.

In all it's just a list of loose ends (housekeeping you might say) I want to tidy up.

I haven't got a quote for freight yet but I have previously bought a door latch and window regulator and a heap of other smaller items from the same place and this was roughly $80.

    Regards
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Have you looked at DLS in the UK. An ebay seller. I'd think prices may be the same or close, I just find them easier to use as you search their site by vehicle rather than part number.

I'm a Aussie but I'm not in business of giving money away

I didn't know what ebay was until I bought a Land Rover, similar for Britcar. In fact I have never used google as much before buying a Disco

Trust me, if it was possible to buy this stuff in Australia with as much ease and not be unloaded with some serious coin I would.

Every time I buy parts such as these I do the ring around but it's pretty well much a waste of time. For example the plenum I was quoted $168 for a second hand one when brand new is $198. The old one has most likely been baked in the sun for the last 8 plus years so it's most likely in worst condition than the one I'm replacing. (Radiator cap $48 when I can get it for $20 as mentioed earlier.... postage is paying for itself)

Also this is all I'm asking

    1. Cheap or reasonably priced quality parts
    2. Good service
    3. Delivery

Not a hard selection criteria but yet to have that experience in Oz, sad as this is to say.

If you don't mind please let me know where you recommend for parts. Like I said I will give them a go.

    Regards
    Andrew

I'll check it out but I have previously bought gear from Britcar and have been in the position where I had to send gear back and had no issues. Plus the service at Britcar is pretty good.

    Mick

You can select the currency on their site so you know straight-up it cost $83 AUD.

Geez...1/3 of the price and postage to your door would be about another $10-15 AUD. The postage cost alone would most likely offset the cost of the tolls, fuel, wear and tear and frustration just to get to the Sydney supplier.

    Not a very hard decision.

    Andrew

It's a huge difference...at those prices, with what I have spent on locally sourced parts over the years, I could of probably had a holiday overseas
