"I use Penrite 5w40. Is that considered 'high end'??"

I use it too, and have done so for 4 years on my wifes 03 td5. It's what our local Indi LR service guy uses on all the cars he services as well. If you look at the Penrite web site they list the LR TD5 as an applicable engine.

Recently after an oil pump bolt failure on my 99 td5 the guys at MR automotive put full synthetic 5w40 in that engine, not because of the bolt, but that is what they use. I'm keen to see if it looks any better when I go to change it.

If not, what brands are considered high end and what are low end??
I am curious because, as with everyone that services their own vehicle, I want my vehicle to last.

    Cheers,

Penrite diesel 5 does a brilliant job.
