Gday all.
I've long suspected that I have had an issue with diesel in the engine oil of my 2004 Disco TD5. I have had the injector seals and washers replaced (at all 4X4 newcastle) after the first reading came back as 4.4% dilution. I was advised that the job was done and no signs of cracking (of the head) was obvious. From new the oil has always had a "diesel" smell to it but the level on the dipstick never seems to move dramaticly. After the injectors were done I changed the oil and both filters. I also changed oil brands, from Castrol Edge 5W30 (used since its first oil change and changed every 5000km) to Penrite HPR Diesel 5 5W40. I also ran an oil system flush prior to changing the oil/filters. Got the results from the second test today. It showed 6% (elevated abnornmal level) dilution after just 2853km. My question is, is it a cracked head or the injectors?
Silicon levels flagged also as a "high abnormal value" which makes sense considering that I have found dust on the upside of the air filter housing. I use Cooper filters and they are changed every 20000km. Pulled the whole assembly out and found the "ducks bill' completly blocked up with solidified dirt and debris. All this was cleaned out and the filter element renewed. Could the blocked ducks bill be preventing the hyclone thingy from doing its job?
I'm almost ready to take the thing back to all 4x4 and tell them to find the cause of these problems and FIX it.

. I'm a fitter/turner by trade but I do not have the time or knowhow to pull the head off a TD5. I love my Disco but I should not be having to face these problems on a vehicle that I bought new and serviced to perfection, never thrashed, never towed anything substantial, and has been loved. Oh.... and its only got 67000km on the clock.
I want to do some performance mods to the engine (toombie!) before we take delivery of our new caravan but I need to sort these problems first. I love my Disco and I want it to be part of our family for many years.
Any feedback more than welcome.
Regards
Robbo.
