Barbs broken on sunroof drain tubes

Ref my old thread at - http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...of-lining.html

I just dropped the front half of my interior roof lining and discovered that the bars that connect to the sunroof drain rails (the barb being the piece that the drain tube hoses slide onto) are snapped off, as such there isn't anything to slide a hose onto!

Anyone else had this occur and if so, what was your solution? I haven't got the roof lining completely removed yet to see if I can tap and thread in an screw in some new barbs.

My current plan is to increase the holes to 10mm (there currently 8mm). I have some other plastic threaded barbs sitting here, I'll cut the thread shorter to fit, apply sikaflex and push into the hole. Then seal around the outside with sikaflex to. Should be fairly firm in there then.

My new replacement barbs. They have a 10mm thread, so I drilled a 9.5mm hole and turned them in.

Sealed in place with Sikaflex. Probably a good substance to use as silicone is a good sealer and it is also somewhat flexable so should prevent them from snapping out.

Then new barbs are slightly smaller, so to ensure a sealed fit with the hose I chucked on some hose clamps:

Tested it by opening the sunroof and pouring water directly into the rails. No leaks.
