    Question D2 underbody protection available

What underbody protection is available for the D2a?
Steering guard, front diff guard and rear diff rockslider/guard?
Any particular value for money suppliers anyone recommends?

Iust to give you an idea of what is available, go to ..Land Rover Servicing Brisbane - Land Rover Spare Parts Brisbane - Welcome to MR Automotive, Redcliffe, Brisbane, Queensland.... You should be able to see what is on the market, and work out what you want to do from there. Bob.

oops, dont know what happened, should be a web site, I'll try again, www.mrautomotive.com.au

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Try Les Richmond Automotive - Excellent to deal with and closer to you,

    Or Rovacraft, - Huge range

And then there is - Lucky8 LLC - Justin is great and really knows the disco2 inside and out. Plus he has one of the best D2's out there. Plus the AUD hit 1.04 USD today!!!

Then of course there is local industry, go have a chat to some fabricators and see what they can come up with to suit what you are chasing.

    Hello twr7cx,

Check out the Aedofab off-road website. Very interesting if you don't mind the postage/shipping from the States.

    Cheers,

    Jason

I ordered QT front and rear diff guards from First Four Off Road ( First Four off Road ). The front one is the one to suit the Defender model though, as from what I have read particularly on the UK and USA forums, this also fits the Discovery, provides better protection and is straight bolt on, don't have to weld on lugs like the Discovery one.
I also ordered the steering guard from them.

I fitted my QT diff guards and First Four Off Road front steering guard. I decided to retain the wombat bar too for additional protection. The front QT diff guard is the Defender one, perfect fit except the drain plug is in a different spot so I had to take a bit out of it with the angle grinder:

Had to cut a hole in the top of the front steering protection in order to access the gearbox lever:

Err... Why did you do that?

Having to access the lever from below is going to cause you problems when your Disco is stuck...

What you are supposed to do, is undo the end of the winch and move the housing around so you can access it from above.

I suggest pulling it out and moving it around as once your bogged nicely you wont be able to get under there to release the winch rope...

Why do I need to access it? The winch operates two ways (forward and reverse), so I can just reverse the cable out using the remote. It won't be under load so the winch won't get hot from that.

It also means that I can leave the cover on the top of the bar - which looks neater and prevents the winch getting wet in the rain etc all the time:
