Oil Light and Engine Heat Increase

    Hi All,

I was driving my 04 D2 V8 this evening and while at the traffic lights, the engine oil light illuminated. I pulled over at next opportunity and switched off the car - being 5 mins from home, I continued on but the engine heat began climbing even though the oil light didn't come on again on start up. There was also a bit of a clicking noise from the engine that went away quickly.

Car has just been serviced (actually only bought from LR dealership a week ago) oil level is fine...any Ideas...new to LR and not a massive car expert.

    Cheers,

Contact the dealer ASAP and advise them you are bringing the vehicle to them to sort it out.

    cheers

Oil light would indicate low oil, but you say there's plenty of oil in the system. So, perhaps the oil pump isn't working properly. That would certainly explain the rising temp.

As discobaker also mentioned, check your coolant levels. Although low coolant wouldn't cause the oil light to come on would it?

If you've just bought it from a LR dealer, ring them up, and tell them to get a tow truck to come and pick it up. I wouldn't be driving it anywhere as it sounds as though oil isn't getting through the engine sufficiently to me.
