    04 disco Advice

    hi all how are we?
    currently looking at a 2004 series 3 disco TD5. i have previously owned a series 2 disco td5 and luved it just curious on if theres anything major to watch out on the series 3 compared to the series 2 and if anyone has one what they think of them;

    Yes, something huge to watch out for, if its got a Td5, it ain't a disco 3, and if its a disco 3 it ain't got a Td5!!

    Do you mean a D2a (update version - different headlights etc), or a very early D3?

    Other than the aforementioned loss of one cylinder as per seano87's post I would suggest you have a look at the FAQ section at the start of this channel as it not only lists some of the common issues with D3's but provides heaps of quality information on the D3/D4's.

    Early ones I recall had some issues ball joints, bushes etc but other than that just be prepared for expensive repairs if and when things fail, as they will on any older vehicle.

    Overall the D3 seems to have aged reasonably well although I think some have or are having issues with transmissions so pay attention to that or check that it has had the fluid changed/flushed if over the 100km mark which it most likely is.

    Also might be worthwhile noting if it is the S with coils or SE or HSE with the air suspension and terrain response.
