Tightening the connectors to the battery terminals

This may seem like an odd question, but I have noticed that even though I cannot tighten the nuts anymore on the battery terminal connectors, I can swivel them by hand around the posts.
Is there some sort of trick to tightening them?

					Yes mine wre the same
loosen them off with 13mm spanner remove from the terminals
undo the nut completely let the thread and wedged end out
Clean them up and grease the wedge and reassemble
Its the wedge cone that forced the clamp together to grip the posts

Another trick is to take the plastic coloured disk off which signify the positive or negative terminal. Some batteries do have 'em

What this does is it makes your clamp sit lower on the post and it widens the gap. You could also file a bigger gap on your clamp but just don't go overboard.

Since I have performed this modification my battery indicator is now showing green.

Mine caused no end of problems, could never keep them tight, so had an auto elec replace them with later style (aussie made). Problem fixed.
