The tensioner pulley for the belt has a 15 mm bolt. The small guard over the compressor pulley, the compressor hold down bolts and the upper manifold bolts all need a 10 mm socket or spanner. The screws for the coil pack are 8 mm, if you have a 12 pt socket it can be used for the rocker covers as well.
Multigrips for the hose clamps unless they have all been change to wormdrives.

There is a great page going into great detail on topic of spanner jaw sizes to be found here: Spanner Jaw Sizes

Checking out some of the D2 websites I've started putting a list together of tools need to do general service type tasks...

    • Torque wrench [1/2"]
    • Ratchet handle [5/8" or 1/2"]
    • Extension bar to suit above
    • Diff Drain plugs 1/2" internal square drive
    • Transfer Box drain and fill plugs 1/2" internal square drive
    • Coil Pack/Rocker Cover - 8mm (ring and/or socket?)
    • Oil Filter housing - 10mm (ring and/or socket?)
    • Aux drive belt Tensioner Pulley - 15mm ring spanner
    • Sump Plug - 17mm (ring or socket)

I'll leave off the defender for the moment.

the monkey wrench is a handy bit of kit to have ...from assisting to demangle body work to getting a grip on a spinny bit with a nut on it that you need to remove and getting a grip on the snapped axle thats also spline twisted into the diff so you cant get it out.. (assuming its snapped of so you can get it out by removing the stub axle)

also handy to hit things with and for grabbing hold of ground anchor pins so you can twist and lift them out of the ground at the same time...

    Dont ask...

oh yeah, Id love to see someone take a landy wheel of with a 21mm deep reach socket.
