[quote=Guru036;1465689]G'day all,
I'm planning on setting it as a daily drive, tow rig and use for off road trips.
I want to run a 33" tyre and plan to fit 1.4:1 high range gears to put gearing back to standard. It seems the easier tyre to fit is a 285/75R16, but they don't seem to fit with a 2" lift from what I've read (they do with some rubbing apparently??). I like the idea of keeping the car as low as possible for stability. I really need it to still drive nice on road as it is a daily and I tow a 2 - 2.5 tonne car trailer interstate 3 times a year. How much caster is lost with the bigger lifts?A quality setup should retain or enhance your travel as well as lift it.If I ran a 2" lift, How much up travel would I lose?
Yes and maybe and would need relocation cones as well.Could I run longer shocks and gain heaps more down travel (I would have to capture the springs)?
).I know there are 3" and 4" lifts around, but I'm worried the car may become too tall for it's purpose (car parks for example
Doesnt really match with your previous desire to keep as low as possible.
You have a range of questions from comparing a serious off roading setup to excellent touring and great off road setup. If your original plans as per post, are to tour and tow with some off road mixed in, then IMO a good 2 inch lift and shock combo will be the go. Your thoughts span a big gap in cost and pupose.
IMO a 4 inch lift and 285's will be require engineering report and be a pain in the butt for towing the van (hitch height, stability)
Give a call to Shane at SUS stuff and talk to him.
