I presume its manual?
It could be as simple as when you are disengaging the CDL.
When I had my 2001 TD5 with LRA CDL kit it always had to be disengaged with motor running & then driven a few metres or the CDL light would stay on.
Engaging was the same, it had to be done with the motor running.
You had to remember this prior to turning car off. Whilst this was a pain the benefit of the CDL outweighed it.

No - a slushbox...
Chuck, yes, same deal and made several forwards backwards trips on the verge to see if the light would go off, but no.
Having the lights on and reduced TC/ABS capacity is ok - at least I know the CDL is in/out with the lever in the appropriate position.
Will have to wait till Wednesday to pick up a new switch and see what happens then!

Have you tested the switch while it's out, i.e. plug the switch in while it's out and manually test it via dash lights.
If you have a vernier, measure the travel of the switch for it's on and off positions and if possible check this against actuator movement. Can do this with a multimeter just as easily.

I am not a moderator, I am a human being!!!
I'll throw one out there, spent Fri/Sat up Newnes way and had the CDL engaged (via reach around method), definatly engaged as it was shuffling on turning on dirt but no light BUT TC still activating (light appearing on dash).
Suggestions?
The switch activates an input into the SLABS to let it know the CDL is active thus turning off TC etc. If there's a switch problem or no switch its just going to be business as usual.
"Reach around" method...... Sure your pulling the right 'knob' while your... well, reaching around????? :Rolling: :wasntme:

So if you disconnect the switch, it's the same as cutting the wire method.
Not quite, cutting the wire at the SLABS leaves the CDL indicator on the instrument cluster active to alert you to the fact that the CDL is still locked, a worthwhile feature.:)

P.S. and this post cracked the ton.:arms:
Damm, the light isn't working so was hoping to avoid replacing on the basis that it's beneficial
TC remains active with the CDL engaged as long as the key is still switched on.A restart after stalling it will still keep the TC active, key has to be switched off then on again to turn the TC off. This will show on the dash with the TC and ABS light staying on.
