    CDL switch help, please!

    Ok...
I have been putting up with my CDL, ABS & TC lights staying on all the time for a while now, even though I know the CDL is mechanically disengaged.

I've just checked the switch on the front output housing and removed it as it was loose.

There is a crap washer on it.

Now my question is...to get the lights to go off, should I ditch the washer so the 'probe' on the switch extends further into the housing, or put a bigger washer on it so it is further out of the housing??

    Advice from the wise please
    Cheers
    Mike

True Pedro - but I'd hoped that if the switch is not detecting proprly that the CDL is disengaged, no damage would result??

    Right - some success...

Replaced the switch without the washer, locked the CDL, unlocked reversed and TC & ABS have gone off - the CDL light extinguished briefly but has now come back on.

    ABS & TC still off...

Could the Ashcroft lever not be coming far enough to the right to satsfy the switch "off" position???

(late edit posted before reading Mikes above ^^^)
    its a chicken-egg thing

On start-up the red light disables TC and ABS,, hence the amigoes,,

theres a blue wire you could cut that will show the amigoes the door,,

but we are no closer to fixing the real problem,, a new "threaded nut" from LR couldnt be that much,,

It's an '01 which had internals and I retrofitted an Ashcroft selector. The output housing is a modified D1 item...

I'm not 100% sure on this but I thought the switch was activated by the CDL internals being full engaged/disengaged. If you have the light you have CDL engaged. If lever is not moving far enough across (the lever can be adjusted) then it is not fully disengaging the internals and that is what the warning light is telling you.

    Thanks to all, especially Pedro

Ron (RSCHIPP), just called by, he suggested jacking the front up with the transfer inn neutral. Did this and with the lever in the "unlocked" position, the front prop will spin when a wheel is turned - push it to "lock" and the wheel & prop won't turn (ergo: locked with the rest of the driveline). Thanks Ron!!

This with the CDL light on...which suggest a fault with the switch...if the light's on, I assume SLABS recognises this and throws the 2 Amigos.

Next step, new switch, bugger - it's easter, lol!!

    Cheers
