About 3 months of data in my fuel app is showing my consumption at: 11.76/100km

2000 model
auto
Just hit 311,000 kms on the clock
what looks like 2" lift and ome's
Tyre pressure is generally 44psi
Mix of about 75/25 city to highway driving.
Try to drive sedately most of the time. Not always possible, but usually.
No real diesel brand preference or additives used currently.

Usually have a couple tool caddies and a basic go bag in the back but nothing excessive weight wise. I do treat it like a covered ute on rare occasions.

I've never actually filled the tank all the way. Came close once but really noticed the extra weight and figured there wasn't much point carrying it around if it wasn't necessary.

I recently changed my fuel pump and it appeared to be over boosting, so wound back the turbo boost modulator and ended up with fuel economy of 14l/100km (worst I have ever seen). I have readjusted the boost controller and have seen an improvement in my last tank, still need to do the maths but should be back to around the 11lt mark.

Since this thread started, the fuel companies in Australia now use one brand of diesolene....except for Brisbane metropolitan area and about 100km south.

The rest of Australia's diesel fuel is imported from Singapore.

So, any brand alliance giving you better economy is bull**** , unless you live in Brisbane , where in fact the diesel fuel from the local refinery is better.

This fuel ends up in Shell, Caltex and BP, but again is same brew.

Once you hit the NSW border or Sunshine Coast it's all over , you are running on Singapura

This might sound contentious and I can't back it up as it's only come to me verbally from a person working in the petrochemical industry here in Queensland.

I also asked this person about adding 2stroke and 'she' said it wouldn't hurt anything but would not be drawn into dosage.

She did say the newer diesel fuels have lower lubricating properties and that is why there are so many diesel fuel additives on the market.

Again , she would not be drawn into recommending any particular product.

Mine is a '99 model auto ( ex- LR ) and I believe it was the first D2 in Australia. Standard except for snorkel. It's done 305000km and consistently gets 12l/100km around town and about 9.8 l/100km on the open road depending how hard I push it. We had a Jayco Swan Outback and fully loaded it would still give me about 12.5l/100 km on the open road.

Dudes '99 D2a manual. I generally fill up 80l and get 800-850km from the tank, depending on driving.
