    Propshaft drama- advice please

Hi all... heard a chirping from under the D2 tonight, pulled over 200m up the road at a servo and a quick inspection confirmed one of the double cardan joint unis was stuffed. I wasn't going anywhere with the uni in that state so i removed the propshaft, took about an hour- ratchet spanners are on the shopping list now.

My questions after searching the forum and reading up- is it okay to drive around for a few days with the centre diff locked? And can anyone recommend a driveshaft/other repairer in Darwin?

My thanks to AULRO- I knew from reading other posts exactly what the chirping would be, and knew what to do about it to avoid a potentially costly repair of the auto/transfer case if the shaft let go. Thanks!

Give Pro Comp In Melbourne a ring & see if they've got a distributor of Tom Woods shafts up your way. I've just replaced my front shaft with a "woody" & they are unbelievably well built compared to standard shafts.

Has anyone made a propshaft loop like on the Rally cars to catch the propshaft if it goes bang?

Just been thinking about it a bit.

    Cheers

    Matt
