    Question Which Oil ?

    For those in the know ? This is the first time on this site I,ve been converted from toyota, Have just got hold of a 2002 Disco with 75,000 on it. The questions I would like to ask are as Follows; I have tried to follow the links on oils, and get lost trying to work out the best to use? Is the a consensus ? With all the knowledge on this site I would hope so. As I,m in Canberra, I wounder if the temperature changes here will make any difference?. As to filleter kits I see a lot on the internet are they worth it? or are factory one worth the extra ?. Also I believe this does not have a CDL ?, Does any one know the cost of the kit and were to get one? All help much appreciated

    Castrol.com.au is what I use to work out roughly what I need. Engine oil I use nothing but Penrite HPR30 the rest is Castrol but oils are often personal choice

    Penrite HPR Diesel 5 (5w/40) for oil. Filter kits are OK. Make sure you do engine oil & filters every 10,000km.

    Yep, any good 5W-40 with the relevant specs will be fine.
