As Psimpson7 said, I can always wreck it...

The SRS light will just be a dirty connection on one of the plugs under the driver and passenger seats. Mine came on last week.
Just disconnect and reconnect the yellow plugs under the seats a few times to clean them up.

    Bought it

So I bought the TD5 pretty cheaply. Has it's good points and plenty of bad! It does appear to have the ACE system as there are two fillers on the powersteer resoviour and some hydraulic looking mechanisms at each corner. Transmission is reasonably new and 3 of the 4 airbag suspension units have been replaced, and the 4th (left rear) drops to nothing about 20min after shutdown.
Front and rear bumpers need replacing, the left front door needs some welding on the little slider that stops the door opening too far, and of course the horn buttons and the fuel pressure reg need replacing. I'm sure it leaks more diesel in a run than it burns.

All up though I'm happy with the purchase, it's been handy this week as I've had the Rangie off the road doing some LPG work.

So all that to say thanks to those who gave advice and no doubt I'll be a regular in the D2 forum from now on!

    Many thanks,
    Richard.

Congrats on the purchase... I think!!

4 airbags? I think you'll find that there's only 2 airbags, both in the rear for the SLS. Did the prvious owner tell you that he'd had 3 of 4 bags relpaced?? That's strange. Why he'd claim to replace 3 and leave the busted one in place is even stranger. I think it's a safe bet to say that he's replaced absolutely nothing on this car and was talking crap.
Replacement bags aren't too expensive and are relatively easy to install, you'll just have to ensure that it's the bag that's at fault first.

You would want to address this pretty soon, it normally takes an overnight sleep for the airbags to deflate from a slow leak, so it must be considerable and I'd say your compressor is running overtime to keep it inflated when driving.
Although the compressor has an automatic cutoff to prevent it from overheating, you don't want to fry it from overuse as they are quite expensive to replace.

Another priority would be the leaking diesel, please get that fixed ASAP. If it's leaking as much as you say, it's dangerous for you and other road users.

Yep, I've got a lot to learn!

I'm onto the fuel leak problem, just need some time to get it sorted.

Where's the best place to get an airbag from?

    Try:
Wolves Offroad - Wolves Offroad. Discovery Series 2

    Rover Parts - Land Rover parts - AIR SPRING - ROAD - L/R DISC 2 (REAR)(CONTITECH GERMANY)

Also keep an eye on ebay, you might find an aftermarket kit there.

You might be able to find some for cheaper overseas from the likes of britpart, rimmerbros or brookwells, but the shipping costs would probably counteract any discounts that you might receive on the purchase price.

Part number is RKB101200 and they retail new for a little over $300 for one bag.

The crying shame of it all is that I just had an order filled for some stuff for the Rangie from the UK, and there was enough room in the box the parts came in to fit an air spring....Oh well, can't foresee the future.

I bought 2x airsprings from the UK approx' 18 months ago, before the dollar was as strong as it is now, and I think it cost me $210AUD + postage for the pair (plus got extra hoses & other bits at the same time).

Do the airsprings asap before the compressor dies from working overtime. Compressors are $500+ from OS ... dearer here (or try Bundalene for a 2nd hand unit!)

Have fun with it Richard ... I have a Nanocom if you need to read/reset faults ... I'm about an hour away.

    Cheers!

I too had Diesel dripping from the rear of the engine.
And like someone quoted, it was the pressure regulator.
That set me back by about $700.00 .
Another fault I had too was that it started running rough.
According to Landrover the wiring loom for the injectors had to be replaced.
Another big hit to the back pocket.
