Thanks all for the replies, advise and support. I am sure you can imagine the ribbing I am currently getting at work. Although one of the people I was expecting the most from has been extremely supportive. Good to have friends!
On the brake fornt. It does need new pads all round. Was thinkng of replacing the disc's at the same time.
We removed trhe fuses and then replaced thwm. Switched the ignition off and the car seemed to work better. Really need to go somewhere and test/trial/learn it.
Any links to the CDL installs being done would be gratefully recieved.
I have posted some pictures in the pictures section.
The last one with the wheel off is where I could not get up!

I've been amazed at what it'll do, especially prior to changing tyres. I had highway terrains that to say they were worn out was an insult to worn out tyres. In slick clay mud around Yalwal the only difference I could tell was the TC light was on.

From the info you have provided I would think that all your electonics are working, ABS pump might be a bit sluggish from lack of use, your probably looking at a new set of pads and rotors all round (I know I need them for our's just havn't got the bucks to shell out) replace brake fluid and bleed to make sure you don't have any air in the system, this really needs to be done by land rover or someone with a scan tool that can activate the abs module ie: NANOCOM which is the tool that I would like for scanning clearing codes etc, again havn't got bucksgood idea to get it scanned anyway just for good measure.
When you get the brakes done make sure that the slider pins on your calipers are pulled out cleaned and regreased these can get very dirty and sticky making it hard for the caliper to properly clamp the pads on to the disc
I'm sure there is a lot to learn about driving with traction control and I'm no expert, and don't really get to much in the way of harder driving. But a couple of times now in the 2 years we have had our disco iv'e had wheels come of the ground a reported 12 inch's or so the wheel spins a bit
TC grabs it and you drive on through ( without CDL engaged ) bloody impressive stuff.
Hang in there and you'll get it sorted and when you do you'll love it

Was there in the middle of 3-4 days of rain. No tyres and no issues, really annoyed the hilux I pulled out.
I'm thinking something is wrong there as well. Mine, (99 TD5) has been awesome. I was going up this steep & rocky incline with roof top tent & kids, camping gear etc, thought "I wont make this" & was quietly sh*tting myself, anyway, t/c light & the system was working the whole way up (approx 50m or so) & when I got to the top, I thought WOW, that was quite easy!!
I now have a winch due to that weekend as I was by myself. lol
I did get stuck once in a very muddy spot but when i was looking out the window, both front & rear wheels on the drivers side were spinning, not just the front. I am assuming the other side were spinning as well.

The thing is. the car would just crawl forward and stop. No amount of revs would realise the brakes. It just stopped!!!
The photos show a wheel spinning and that is it. Not sure if anyone got vid of it. Will fiond out over the next few days.

Really wanrt to go back and show all the other drivers/cars that thjis vehicle is very capable.
Obvioulsy I need some practise with this system...to learn.
Just got to find a suitable place locally.
it does take some getting used to but i found steady contsant throttle gave best results when on tricky bits of track.
if you have the internals in the transfer case and the spiggot then you are only a 10mm spanner away from cdl motion.![]()
