[Aside from the door knob not lifting up nor down]

To lift the knob pull the door handle, first time will lift the knob second time will open the door you can not lift the knob to unlock. You should be able to lock the door with the knob tho.

Hi all - thanks for the replies.

I'm having RACV 'look' at their damage tomorrow...

If the RACV can do what Rod 46 suggested i'll be happy for it being sorted as clearly I have no clue about how to lift a door knob.... and my faith will be restored back in them (NOT!)...

Rod 46 wins hands down tho for having the most amusing reply!

    Cheers,
    Lp

Rod's refering to the interior release handle, if the lock button is pushed down, pull the handle as if you wanted to get out. The first pull will unlock the door (button pops up). The second pull will open the door (release the latch).

Thanks clubagreenie, I know what Rod was referring to... sarcasm on my side LOL (no offence taken I hope Rod!).... even doing that, it still did nothing...

Anyhooo.... went to RACV repair center and the rod inside was 'bent'.... so after it was 'straightened' out... and some graphite powder applied to both the knob mechanism and key lock everything is gliding smoothly again... (I hope it stays that way)

I also went out and got x2 sets of keys cut at a cost of $7.00 each, so all I need to do next is find somewhere away from houses & practice the unlock sequence if ever in the event I need it...

again, thanks everyone for your help, comments and feedback... as usual appreciated :-D

    Cheers,
    Lp

Came across a LR Technical Bulletin covering the key blade detaching from the fob. The fix is to glue using Loctite 382 or 411. These are both Cyanoacrylate glues with the 382 being high viscosity, and 411 a high viscosity gap filling adhesive.

If you can't track down the loctite you could substitute a hobby shop glue like Pacer Slo-Zap CA http://www.zapglue.com/Slow.html which is a high viscosity cyanoacrylate with gap filling properties.

I can't remember which is which buy the black loctite adhesive would be the best. It doesn't have the tendency to impact shatter or break, I guess I'm trying to say it's a little more flexible and does gap fill to a degree.
