Thanks for all the info.
Like I said I am only weighing up my options at the moment.
Going to get a full check on the D2 done in a few weeks to see just how much work needs to be done.

Hey guys, looks like a good place for this question -
How long would one expect a ZF 4spd auto to last in an average world with average usage (ie hwy and town driving) and not necessarily towing large loads?
Some question for the 5spd manual.
thanks
Darian
Flush the auto and new filter at 100k intervals..my D1 auto has 250k on it and very sweet and quick to engage from neutral. My D2 has 175k and a fair bit of towing and off roading on the 5 speed and sweet. My bro had a 94 D1 with a 5 speed before his County came along - 300,000k and no dramas at all.
Cheers
Ah yes ... Angel gear
The D2 auto actually has 6 gear ratios ...
1 - 2 - 3 - 3 lockup - 4 - 4 lockup![]()
Kev..
Going ... going ... almost gone ... GONE !! ... 2004 D2a Td5 Auto "Classic Country" Vienna Green
2014 MUX LST with fruit
2015 Kimberley Kamper "Classic"
My 5 speed has growling gear noise. I could live with it but don't want to. It probably has quite a few K's left but I'm going to get it overhauled.
Cheers
YOIKES !
No !
Every 40K as per the service schedule.
(First service is oil & filter, then oil every 40K after that, but I would do filter & oil every 40K)
If you tow heaps then yes every 20K
These ZF's love fresh fluid & is the only way to keep there longevity :-)
Cheers
