you should install a low coolant level alarm, I have an "engine saver" low coolant level alarm fiited but there are other brands on the market.

Get the engine saver T2 combo unit, it combines low coolant level alarm and Head temp indication/warning.

gives better all round protection from cooking the goose and its easy to fit.

X 2. Turbo boost gauge, oil pressure monitoring (TM2 can do this) and if its tuned, EGT pyrometer.

how does the TM2 measure oil pressure. as far as i can see it only has one sensor. that sensor measure temps from the thermostat bolt.

i dont see how one sensor measures "overheating, including coolant leaks, sticky engine thermostats, engine water pump leaks, coolant blockages, radiator blockages, faulty radiator caps & even heat build-up from engine oil problems"

X 2 means "times two", in other words, I agree with the previous post. Sorry. The TM2 has a wire that you can splice into the oil pressure switch so when zero or low pressure is detected, an ear piercing solid beep is emitted.

I gather it works by measuring the engine block temperature directly rather than as a secondary measurement such as coolant temp. Not sure if the external block temp is a reliable measurement of internal block temp.

Comments anyone who has one? I'm curious.

I have my TM2 sensor attatched to a bolt that is about 180mm long on the front rhs of the TD5. This bolt looks like it travels through the head and screws into the block. The only concern I have from this location is its proximity to the draught from the fan. It usually runs around the high 70's to low 90's on a hot day.

i have my block probe screwed to the water outlet aluminium houdsing on the head, udually reads 2-3 degrees cooler than the nanocom CT temp. on long uphill runs it often gets a few degress hotter than the CT temp.
