Thanks NJZ. Its good to know they were better than the STTs, which we were seriously considering. LRT

Thanks rovercare for letting me know about the MTZs. Unfortunately, these great tyres are not available in 235/70R16, which is the size I require for our seven seater Discovery II. LRT

Personally the next mud I'd like too try is pro comp, my old boy has had an excellent run from the x terrains, 2 Simpson trips, cape York, canning, kimberelys, buys them again and again

    Pro Comp tyres

    Hi Rovercare,
I had a look on the internet about the procomp tyres. Pro Comp - Australia - Home They look fantastic! Unfortunately, these tyres are also unavailable in 235/70R16 sizes.

    Hi LRT,

I've had 225/75R16 KM2 on my RRC for a couple of years now and reckon they're great on all road types; especially impressed with their performance on wet bitumen. I'll most likely replace with more of the same when the time comes.

    cheers

    LRT,

Have you considered changing tyre size? If I was looking for ultimate economy I wouldn't have put half the stuff on the disco and I would be running something like a Micheline Latitude HP.

Instead I'm running a set of MT ATZ in LT245/75R16. A little more diff clearance and fills the guards just that little more. I'm onto my second set, very happy with the tyre size for my daily driver. Those not in the know wouldn't realise. The change is 38.5mm diameter or a smidgen over 5% which I believe is within road regulations (max 50mm). I makes a few more tyres choices available.

LRT, I have a friend doing a remote lap around Aus currently, and was talking to him yesterday.
He suggested the next set of tyres he buys will be BF Goodrich MT's, and so should I. He said of all the blown tyres he has seen, non of them have been the GFG, they seem almost built proof.
I found this odd, and funny, because he bagged me out for having BFG AT's on the last vehicle I had. Which by the way only lost traction in the wet if I wanted them too.
This mate currently runs Micky Thompson's and said they would be his second choice.

something to think about I guess.
