Thread: BF Goodrich KM2 tyres & wet bitumen

I did a couple of thousand miles in the UK last month on KM2's and was very impressed with them generally. Wet road use seemed fine. Better than my KM's anyway

I have just bought tyres for our D2(this week) and have chanced my arm on the MTR Kevlars for a change (I normally go for BFG's)

Only done about 10km on those so far so cant give an impression yet apart from at tyre shop pressure they are very hard

I think the 2 current stand outs in the off road tyre market are the KM2 and the MTRwK.

I haven't found many bad reports on either really.

my mtr's 235/85's on the D2 with 2" lift are wearing terribly and noisy! done less then 15k and had 2 wheel balances and alignments that say all is good but getting stepping and bad wear (something is not right somewhere), although in 35's on my 90 they are awesome, miles better then my mtz's - which i sold after a few k's casue they annoyed the sugar outta me . they are super quiet and ride well

I have them on mine, they feel very secure in the wet.

Ive run km1s and km2s on my defender, found them both a very good tyre, but I believe that km1s with the rim protector somehow lost bfg the edge they have held for so long.....The KM2 has reinstated them at the top or very near for me....of course availabilty is a different question.

Very confident and progressive in the wet for me. And I live in the tropics where 6 to 7 metres of rain anually is fairly normal.

Im now fitting 255/100 Michelin XZLs wow this has been a major undertaking. Nearly finished it tonight. I have 1 inch extra up travel and 36 inch tyres and no rubbing.

First highway drive tommorrow. Man 6 months without a 4x4 has nearly killed me!

Thanks Psimpson7, it seems as though the KM2's are a good all-round mud tyre. I hope they live up to your expectations.
