Isn't it Illegal to sell copies of your RAVE CD?
Hi all,
i have noticed that there are a lot of members offering to sell copies of their RAVE CD's to other members, on various forums, at the cost of the cd and postage.
Isn't this illegal?
or is there no copy Write one the Rave CD's?
I promise you this will be the only question i post in this thread.

I have never seen material such as RAVE not subject to some form of copyright and therefore I would be inclined to believe it's illegal.
But you can also download the software from various websites (for free) which is also illegal.

Just had a look, and the pages are copyright to Land Rover.
Now, depending on who put the Rave package together in the first place, I would suggest that they own the Rave concept, but not the pages of information contained in them, unless this was LR themselves.
Thus, in theory, any copy of Rave that is not purchased from the original author, or under licence, would be breaking copyright.
That is the theory. What happens in practice is something else again.
However, I would be wary of downloading a copy for "free" off the net, due to the serious potential for a virus or malware.
