    D2 Corrosion

Had a D2 here today to diagnose a sagging air spring,I found a leaky air spring.
I noticed that all 4 doors had bubbles in the trim at the top of the door where the glass meets the steel.
Some had lifted the trim by almost 10mm and there was powder falling out.
I havent seen much corrosion in any D2s.Worth looking at your trims to see if there is any sign of the trim lifting.Would be an easy fix if caught early.

Cheers for the heads-up Andrew. My 1999 D2 is going for an underbody steam clean and rust protection spray tomorrow.

I'm doing the cavity wax treatment myself to try and save a few bucks. The stuff I'm using will be Dynax S50. The aerosol comes with a 60cm long flexible lance to get into the doors, etc. Underbody is being treated with Otech 202 UB.

What would be the easiest fix for the bubbling trims you saw on that other vehicle?

If it's the rubber wiper seal at the bottom of the window, then just replace it. Mine had the same thing and i thought of all sorts of horrible things with rusting etc. Take the wiper seal off and replace with a new one.. Problem solved. It seems as if the wiper seal has a steel stiffener in it that rusts and forces the trim seal to bubble like it does. All in all an easy fix and looks alot worse than it really is.

    Cheers

Sounds like George is onto it.
This was pretty bad, plenty of powredy gunk falling out.
At least if there is panel damage, once cleaned/treated the trim will hide the repaired damage.

Brilliant. Thanks for posting that George. It might be a worthwhile thing to do before selling if they get much worse than mine are at the moment.

Anyone noted rust where the little pillar between the 2 glass bits of the window in the doors for the second row seats goes into the rubber. Both sides of mine have a little rust starting. Looks like a weld at the bottom of the pillar where it is coming from possibly rubbing on the rubber too has worn through the paint. Lucky it is black paint on the pillar so should be able to treat it and get it looking good with minimal fuss.
