Bit of confusion about coolants in the D2 V8. Not interested in TD5, just the V8 please
What do you use and have you experienced probs using OAT.
I'm getting conflicting info about oat. The expansion tank on my D2 has a tag H2O + Oat. So I replaced the existing grren cooalnt withOat, now it seems I have a leak from the Radiator. Talking to some one, I was informed that OAT causes electrolysis in the Alloy radiator and eats them away. So I'm wondering if I should replace the coolant with some green coolant? or replace the Rad and refill will Oat and hope it doesn't eat it away again

i changed mine to oat,it showed up everything that i thought wasn.t leaking as leaking because of the pink colour, either that or it cleans the gunk off everything.
When you change green glycol coolant to OAT it will find the tiniest leaks. I suspect the quantities of coolant lost are often minimal, just need to keep an eye on the coolant level. Green glycol coolant leaves powdery deposits under every joint which dissolves in the red stuff. Probably the only way to prevent the leakage is to replace every gasket and hose, then polish every hose nipple. OAT is best used from new and maintained regularly. Personally if I find a vehicle on green coolant I won't change to OAT because of this.
I'll back bee utey..
if its got ethylglycol in it leave it there, untill you flush and overhaul the cooling sytsem, then switch back to oat.
the green stuff is thicker than the oat so smaller leaks get sealed up.

Hello It'sNotWorthComplaining!
OAT is non reactive with aluminium, that's why it is specified in systems with alloy components/radiator. More than likely that the 'green' coolant had already corroded your radiator and the OAT found where to leak from. The thing about the OAT coolant is that leaks are easy to find due to the neon qualities of the pink colour. Green coolant in a cooling system that requires OAT coolant is a slow train coming. The corrosion won't happen overnight, but it will happen(I feel like I need to wash my hair).
Stick to your manufacturer recomended fluids.
Cheers,

The OAT and the green coolants dont mix. When they are mixed together you will be replacing hoses, radiators and heater cores not to mention what damage it is causing to the internal cooling system of the engine. If you want to change coolants it MUST be flushed very very well.
OMG!!!! FINALLY AN OAT THREAD WITH THE CORRECT ANSWERS AND INFORMATION BEING GIVEN!!!!!!!
AM I IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE OR IS THIS A HORRIBLE CRUEL JOKE TO MESS WITH MY HEAD??????
