The link is not working but I believe regardless of what anyone says, if you like it that is all that matters in the end.
01 is just before the 2a was introduced with many upgrades but at the right price, in the right condition, sure go for it.
Make sure you get it checked out, has good service history and everything works.
I would guess a 01 be worth around $9-12k depending on condition etc.

Only issue is its unlikely to have a CDL bolt in the transfer case...

CDL retrofit is a very important upgrade to earlier D2s

Looks like a nice vehicle. With a dual battery setup and cargo barrier added to that already extensive list of mods it would be a great tourer. Says it has the CDL so that's good.

A couple of reservations though... price for one. $18.5k is a bit steep for a 225000km '01 D2.

FWIW If I was considering buying it I would be worried about the fact that it's just had the head gasket done this month. Given that it doesn't seem to have a digital readout temp gauge you have no way of knowing how warm it's running (the standard temp gauge is useless, except to tell you when it's actually boiling!)

Millions of vehicles have the same set up and not an issue. This truck wont be an exception to the norm.

Most important in this case, is that the head work was done properly and in this instance, on face value at least, the reworking has been satisfactory.

    cheers

i have offered much less then his asking price as i also think its a bit steep, an aftermarket temp gauge would be easy enough to install or doesnt that help?

I'm with you all the way Strangy... most vehicles don't have them fitted for sure.

I just figured that in this instance it might be good to have temp readout as the head work has only just been done and who's to say whether it's been done properly.

I would add that a proper temp gauge [aftermarket as you say Roddy, do a search on TM2 or Engine Watchdog] is a pretty inexpensive and potentially engine saving bit of gear that I would highly recommend for any vehicle My car is proof of that... it saved my engine for sure, as per an old thread.
