Hi Ollie .... yes, lack of effort ... takes perserverance & patience ! :D

I have the dual battery tray in the same position ... stand on a milk crate so you can lean over the guard and into the engine bay, squirm your arm in, grab the filter (a rubber washing glove helps to grip the filter if it's not oily) then undo a little bit at a time ... there ain't much room to move ! :eek: If you can get an oil filter wrench on to it (and there's not much room to swing it), just inch it off (mm it off LOL!) a little at a time.

It can be done .... and when you fit the new filter, ONLY do it up hand tight ... then check it in a day or two to make sure it's not leaking.

I've been using one for years, best $15 I ever spent. I modded mine by adding some rubber hose bits onto the finger ends, as some filters would still slip, rubber on the finger tips gave more grip
