Can't help with a mechanic as I live in Scarborough, just round the corener from MR Automotive
Check to see if the breather on the axle is blocked. If the breather is blocked it can cause oil to leak from the seal.

Hi All
Discovered a new oil leak on the weekend with a dozen drops of oil from the rear diff - maybe coming from around the drifeshaft? Is this another common issue?
I don't have time to tinker nor the time to take it to MR at Recliffe so any suggestions for a suitable place in the eastern suburbs of Brisbane. I need the vehicle for a camping holiday this Sunday
Thanks

Sounds like a stuffed rear pinion seal. It's not really common. Check for blocked breather, if you have d2 you may want to extend it, i think in d2a they are extended from factory.
The seal is around $30 from LR and it's not too hard to replace yourself, can't help with a workshop tho cause i got no idea about brizzie
Pinion is a possibility. Mine was leaking a bit - took it to Redlands 4WD Centre at Steele Capalaba and they found quickly that it wasnt pinion, but rather the lower 4 bolts had come undone a little and was leaking - cleanup, new oil, sealant and all good - quick good job. Go talk to Peter Kitchin owner there.
Cheers
I have heard that the guy at redland 4x4 owns a landie, but have never used them.
My father uses Brett's mechanical at wynnum. Not a landie specialist, but honest, reliable and reasonably priced. (however usually very busy for that reason).

Yeah thanks for that Ivan. Very happy with the work they have done in the past but too hard to organise drop off/pick up & work in the city.
Thanks ozscott. Will give them a go next time. Found a place at Tingalpa that was recomended by a friend of a friend and they can fit the car in tomorrow. Will see how they go.Originally Posted by ozscott
Need a place near Manly West that can look after usual wear & tear stuff as I'm getting too busy to spend weekends under the carso I have some options to consider.
Thanks all for the replies.
