mostly I only see the water from the sunroof when the car moves,,
    but who knows at night?

I could understand the alarm going off if something the size of a shoebox moves around inside the car,,

    but moths [and water] ?!?!
I was dropping something off at a friend's place when I heard what sounded just like my D2 horn blaring to look down the street and find my lights flashing too...

As all my windows were closed the only thing I could put the alarm going off to was having my mobile on the centre consol which started vibrating... They're precious things these Disco's.

Mine started to go off regularly (usually between 2.00 and 4.00am) after my wind screen was replaced with a leaking one.
It took about three goes to finally get the leak fixed, but in the mean time I disconnected the motion sensor on the side where the leak appeared, and the alarm never went off again.
So try disconnect the sensor and see if this works for you.
