Endless Air in a TD5 ? Anyone? How?

    Hi Land Rover Lovers,

I'm looking to put an Endless Air style system (air conditioning compressor used as an air pump to fill a small air reservoir) into my TD5 D2, and wondering if anyone has done it before (whilst keeping the factory air functioning).

What compressor was used, and most importantly - Where and how did you mount the compressor and run a drive belt to it?

I'm thinking of getting a custom pully made up to double onto the current idler wheel on the passenger side of the engine, and then run a dedicated belt from that to a compressor - but there is very little room in the engine bay to mount the compressor....

Handy with a welder, and figured I could make any required brackets etc myself, whilst having a machine shop custom make a new pulley for the idler, whilst has a ribbed belt to match original, and probably a V belt section just to run the compressor belt. (Using a Vbelt to save space, as there is not much depth before a second ribbed belt would hit the radiator etc)

Any advice or experience is appreciated....

I cant help too much buuit if you dont have ACE you could use that location.

I am curious as to what you would want to be using this for?
I was at ARB yesterday looking at air compressors and for about $400 it seems that a system could be set up, I am thinking in the rear near the storage boxes.
This would be for the vehicle and bicycle tires

I looked into fitting something similar but ended up with a Warn VTC compressor as it was a similar output & a hell of a lot easier to fit.

Check out the specs on them. I have had one for a couple of years now coupled with an extra 5 gallon tank & it works like a charm. I can re-inflate 285/75s from 12 to 40psi in just over a minute. There are not many compressors on the market that can do that. I was previously runing a Thomas Twin Tongue & Bushranger Max Air but they took closer to 2.5 min to re-inflate with. I also use the VTC to operate my locker as well as the pressure in the tank is regulated at 70-100psi.
